Case Study: Creating a New Group & Brand
The Goal
A group of like-minded individuals and I were tasked with forming a brand new college campus group, with the goal of attracting artists who had an interest in spiritual matters. Our aim from a visual perspective was to challenge the perception of what people thought a college Christian group typically looks like.
The Process
We first started with the name of the group: Make New (based on the passage in the Bible, Revelations 21:5). Since we were starting a new group, anticipated producing new creative projects down the line, and hoping to help students begin new spiritual journeys, we thought the name was fitting on many levels. Next came designing our logo. After iteration after iteration, I thought to reduce the "M" and the "N" to basic strokes created something visually simplistic and iconic, which could be easily translated onto various mediums.
The Results
From our logo, to websites, publications, and various social media/marketing efforts, we strived to maintain a consistent visual narrative. Here is a sample of the process and application.
